3 militants, cop killed in twin Kashmir encounters
The Quiry Webdesk- Three militants and a cop have been killed in two different gunfights in Central and South Kashmir villages while a soldier and a cop have been shifted to Srinagar based hospital after sustaining bullet injuries.
The encounter that had raged in Badigam village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district during late night hours started this morning. Police sources told News Agency KNT that the target house belonged to one Muhammad Ramzan.
They said three militants were present in the house who were killed in the gunfight. A soldier also sustained injuries.
Sources said the spectulation about 3 militants is that they belong to militant outfit Laskar-e-Taiba, HM and Lashkar-e-Mustafa. Unconfirmed sources identified them as Feroz Ahmad Dar of Haff village who had joined militant ranks of Hizbul Mujahdeen in May 2018, Suhail Ahmed Sheikh of Turkawangam, had joined Albadar October last year and Mudasir Wagay of Sangran Chek Shopian. Mudasir was missing from past 2 days.
Another encounter is in progress in Beerwa area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Sources said that a search operation was launched at Peth Zainigam Beerwah by 53RR, SOG and CRPF. Initially exchange of fire took place between militants and Forces in which reportedly 2 SOG men got injured.
Selection Grade Constable Manzoor Ahmed from Sopore and SPO Altaf Najar from Chadura Budgam were shited to Srinagar based Army hospital where Altaf Najar succumbed to his injuries.
